Squalicum girls' tennis loses on the road

The Squalicum girls' tennis team suffered a 4-3 Northwest Conference loss Tuesday, April 22, at Sedro-Woolley.

The Squalicum No. 1 doubles team of Kim Dorr and Sarah Byron earned a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Bridgette Janicki and Emily VanLiew.

Byron has moved from singles to doubles to replace the injured Rachel Dorr and coach Joe O'Brien said the team has performed well for only their second match together.

"I'm pleased with that doubles team," O'Brien said in a phone interview. "We may go with that for districts if Rachel's not back."

The Storm also had wins from Tirsa Randall-Grutter and Hope Jorgensen, both straight-set winners in singles play.
