Bellingham tops Squalicum in softball slugfest

Bellingham's softball team earned its first league win of the season with a 20-13 victory over Squalicum on Tuesday, April 22, at Squalicum.

Justina Allen was 2 for 3 with five RBI for the Red Raiders, and Lindsey Richard went 2 for 3 with two doubles.

Dakota Littlefield went 3 for 4 with two doubles and four RBI for the Storm. Hailey Linville was 3 for 4 with three RBI.

"We were up 5-3 at one point, and both teams just kept battling," Squalicum coach Loren Zenonian said in a phone interview. "In the fifth and the sixth the errors just caught up to us. Even when they were up 16-6 in the bottom of the sixth, we didn't give up. They showed fight and so did we."

Bellingham hosts Sehome at 4 p.m. Friday, April 25, at home. Squalicum takes on Sedro-Woolley at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at Janicki Fields.
