Bellingham boys' soccer earns win


Noe Bentancourt-Cruz netted the lone goal for Bellingham's boys' soccer team as it defeated Sedro-Woolley 1-0 in a Northwest Conference match on Monday, April 21, at Civic Stadium.

Bentancourt-Cruz scored after a receiving a pass from Keegan Nutt and taking the ball through Cubs' defenders up the middle to beat the keeper for the goal.

"Our defense played great. Our captains Hunter Hadfield and Anders Botterill put in the extra work," Bellingham coach Matt Zigulis said in a phone interview. "We played as a team and worked hard on and off the ball. It was great to see everyone show up."

Bellingham takes on Anacortes at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Northwest Soccer Park.
