Baker boys' soccer suffers loss

Burlington-Edison scored on a penalty kick in the 65th minute to seal a 2-1 Northwest Conference victory over Mount Baker on Monday, April 21, at Mount Baker.

"It was a 50-50 ball at the top of the box and we had a good tackle, but the ref saw it as a PK," Mount Baker coach Jason Jorgensen said in a phone interview. "Both teams had good energy, it was pretty back and forth throughout the game."

Manuel Mendez scored the Mountaineers' only goal of the game in the 13th minute. Taylor Bruntil had the assist on the play.

Bryce Logan saved 12 shots for Mount Baker, and Jorgensen praised his control of the defense.
