Mount Baker softball earns win over Sehome


Mount Baker's softball team overcame 12 Sehome hits and took a 9-4 Northwest Conference win on Monday, April 21, at Mount Baker. Aleks Toivola got the win for the Mountaineers, improving her record to 6-1.

Toivola helped her team on offense as well, going 3 for 3 with two doubles and two runs scored.

"They got a couple early, but we scratched back to tie it up," Mount Baker coach Ron Lepper said in a phone interview. "We were fortunate to work out of some jams and put together a big inning in the sixth."

Emily Yost was 1 for 2 with a triple and three RBI in her first game back from a wrist injury she suffered during basketball season. Lepper was also impressed with her defense at third base.

Jenny McIntyre was 2 for 4 with two runs scored and two stolen bases.

Mount Baker takes on Lynden at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24, at home. Sehome plays next at 4 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Bellingham.
