Campfield pitches well, Trojans win

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDApril 21, 2014

Meridian's baseball team scored in every inning on its way to a 7-1 win over Blaine in a Northwest Conference game on Monday, April 21, at Meridian.

Derek Campfield pitched a complete game, scattering four hits and striking out two.

"He did a great job," Meridian coach Steve Slesk said in a phone interview. "He had good rythym. He got ahead of hitters early in counts."

Josh Hosick, Jake Plagerman and Dakota Jones all had two hits for Meridian.

"That was very encouraging," Slesk said. "We've had a lot of lulls lately, but the kids chipped away and executed very well."

Meridian (6-6, 2-3 NWC) faces Squalicum on Tuesday, April 22, on the road. Blaine (4-11, 0-7 NWC) plays Sehome on Wednesday, April 23, at Pipeline Fields.
