A new 3-mile trail connector has expanded the east Tiger Mountain trail system to 12 miles. The trail, along with seasonal trails, opened earlier this month.
The state Department of Natural Resources partnered with Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance to construct two new trails: Joy Ride Trail and a rerouted Silent Swamp Trail.
A map of the trails can be found at 1.usa.gov/1kRDjac.
Trail builders from the alliance were contracted to build the trail link, while department staff and Puget Sound Corps crews assisted with construction. Volunteers also contributed more than 3,000 labor hours to the project.
The department also recently secured two grants that will allow it to continue expansion of the trail system that will eventually be roughly 25 miles on east Tiger Mountain.
The new trails were funded by two department-awarded grants through the Washington Wildlife & Recreation Program and the Nonhighway & Off-Road Vehicle Activities Program.
Tiger Mountain offers mountain bike trails, hiking, paragliding launches, and horseback riding.Compiled by Jeffrey P. Mayor, firstname.lastname@example.org
