FISHING: Rufus Woods below Grand Coulee reopened

April 20, 2014

A closed section of Rufus Woods Lake reopened to public access and fishing Tuesday.

The section from the Grand Coulee Dam downstream to state Route 155 has been closed to the public as precaution since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Fishing for all species is open until further notice.

Following the attacks, this section of Rufus Woods Lake was closed to public access and recreational fishing for security purposes. Public access was recently restored, and recreational fishing is now permitted, according to a release from the state Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Fishing rules and license requirements in effect downstream of the state Route 155 Bridge apply to the newly opened section.
