Bellingham's big inning gives Red Raiders win

Bellingham's baseball team scored 13 runs in the sixth inning to top Blaine 21-11 in six innings in a Northwest Conference game on Saturday, April 19, at Pipeline Fields.

The Red Raiders scored 12 of the 13 runs with two outs and benefited from nine walks or hit batters in the inning.

"It was a complete meltdown on our end," Blaine coach Sean Linville said in a phone interview.

Before the big inning, Blaine was chipping away at an 8-0 lead Bellingham had pushed out to after three innings.

"The tough thing about today was it was by far the best we swung the bat all year. That part's encouraging," Linville said. "On the reverse side, it's hard to overlook some of the other stuff."

Bellingham (8-6, 5-1 NWC) plays Sehome on Monday, April 21, at Sehome. Blaine (4-9-0, 0-5 NWC) faces Meridian on Monday on the road.
