Lynden's baseball team took the lead in the sixth inning and topped Nooksack Valley 6-2 in a Northwest Conference game on Friday, April 18, at Nooksack Valley.
The Lions scored three runs in the sixth inning to pull out to a 4-1 lead and added two insurance runs in the seventh to hold on.
"They took it to us in the sixth," Nooksack coach Scott Gelwicks said in a phone interview. "It was tough to get our composure back."
Christian Mouat went the distance to pick up the win. Noah Rawls threw five strikeouts in six innings.
"We just have to get over the hump. We need to beat a Lynden or Bellingham or Sehome," Gelwicks said. "Once we can do that, we'll be fine. It's a confidence thing as much as anything."
Lynden (6-6, 3-2 NWC) plays Anacortes on Saturday, April 19, at home. Nooksack Valley (5-5, 1-3 NWC) plays Coupeville and Mount Baker on Saturday at home.
