Lyncs fall on the road

Lynden Christian's baseball team gave up three first-inning runs and took a 10-3 Northwest Conference loss to Anacortes on Friday, April 18, at Anacortes.

Grant Wolffis took the loss on the mound, but kept the Lyncs close.

"Grant started out pretty bumpy, but he settled in after the first inning and kept us in the ballgame," Lynden Christian coach Desi Luna said in a phone interview. "I wanted to get his pitch count up, so I kept him in a bit longer than I should have."

Jamie Heysteck led the Lyncs' offense, going 2 for 4 with a run and two stolen bases. Heysteck's stellar defense at shortstop was also on display, Luna said.

Lynden Christian takes on La Conner at 4:30 p.m. Monday, April 21, at home.
