Squalicum's baseball team topped Bellingham, the last team without a loss in the Northwest Conference, 5-2 on Friday, April 18, at Bellingham High School.
The Storm started strong with two runs in the first and David Stealy carried Squalicum the rest of the way, pitching seven innings and only allowing two walks while striking out five.
"David pitched a terrific game," Squalicum coach John Inge said in a phone interview. "It was a gutty performance."
The Storm also got an RBI apiece from its two seniors - Ben Johnson and Landon Tripp.
"It's great when your two seniors are the hardest working guys on the team," Inge said. "They set the tone for our team."
Bellingham's Brad Johnson pitched seven innings and took the loss.
Squalicum (8-3-1, 3-1 NWC) faces Sedro-Woolley on Monday, April 21, at home. Bellingham (7-6, 4-1 NWC) plays Sehome on Monday on the road.
