It was a monumental win for the Ferndale boys' golf team, defeating the field of six to earn its first tournament win in 12 years on Tuesday, April 15, at the Grandview Golf Course.

The Golden Eagles finished with a score of 400, besting second-place Sedro-Woolley by seven strokes. Squalicum came in tied for third with Mount Baker (434), Blaine came in fifth (490) and Lynden Christian finished sixth (493).

The Lyncs' Lincoln Olson earned medalist honors after shooting a 74. Other top placers included Ferndale's Tanner Lester (78), Daniel Erickson (79) and Joel Quanz (79), and Blaine's Devan Boucher (78). Mount Baker's Kenneth Wilson (79) and Squalicum's Tavo O'Connell (80) also had strong performances.

"The kids have been practicing," Ferndale coach Joel Wark said in a phone interview. "The home course is comfortable for them. They came in with confidence, and we had four guys shoot tournament-bests. Everything is starting to come together."
