Lions, Pioneers battle to draw

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDApril 15, 2014

Nooksack Valley's boys' soccer team couldn't gain an edge over Lynden and had to settle for a 1-1 tie in a Northwest Conference matchup on Tuesday, April 15, at Nooksack Valley Elementary.

Jorge Perez scored for the Pioneers, heading in a Rigoberto Gonzales corner kick in the 38th minute.

The Lions answered early in the second half when Per Wolfisberg tapped in a ball that slipped away from Nooksack goalkeeper Levi Van Wingerden.

"Both defenses didn't make any mistakes," Nooksack Valley coach Valentin Villalobos said in a phone interview. "Levi made just one little mistake."

Nooksack Valley's next game is at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at Ferndale. Lynden takes on Mount Baker at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at Bender Fields.
