Blaine's boys' soccer team found the back of the net with ease in a 6-0 win over Ferndale in a Northwest Conference match on Tuesday, April 15, at Pipeline Fields.
Colton Economy kicked off the scoring in the 18th minute and then added another three minutes later.
"The kids were angry for the win," Blaine coach Giovanni Quesada said in a phone interview. "Colton came in and scored some early goals. He's a substitute and he goes in and shows a lot of foot skills."
Nick Butschli scored one of his two goals in the 50th minute. His second came in the 72nd minute.
"He ran a lot of miles. He played hard in the defense and played hard in the midfield," Quesada said. "The kids respect that. All game he try and try and try."
Garren Economy and Konner VanRisjwick scored the other two goals for Blaine, which topped a hard-working Ferndale team.
"Ferndale's kids try hard from beginning to end," Quesada said.
Blaine (3-4-2, 1-4-1 NWC) plays Meridian on Thursday, April 17, on the road. Ferndale (0-9-1, 0-5-1 NWC) faces Nooksack Valley on Thursday at home.
