Blaine girls' tennis falls just short against Burlington-Edison

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDApril 14, 2014

Blaine's Alex Henderson came from behind to defeat Micaela Granberg, but the Blaine tennis team took a 4-3 loss to Burlington-Edison on Monday, April 14, at Burlington-Edison.

Henderson defeated Granberg 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. Saskia Dolk also had a slight comeback, going down 4-2 early in her match with Jaycy Commock before coming back for a 7-5, 6-2 win.

"Alex just figured out what she had to do in the match after the first set," Blaine coach John Freal said in a phone interview.

Kjirstin Larsen and Caytlin Sharp weren't as lucky in their match against the Tigers' Olivia Nilsen and Emma Eide. Larsen and Sharp won the first set, but couldn't capture a second in their 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 loss.

Blaine's next match is at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at home against Lynden.
