Lynden softball comes through in clutch

The Lynden softball team avoided defeat in the bottom the seventh inning and grabbed the victory in the bottom of the eighth to earn a 2-1 Northwest Conference victory Monday, April 14, at Burlington-Edison.

In the bottom of the seventh, Trisha Snyder scored on a passed ball to get the Lions' first run against Burlington-Edison pitcher Riley VanderVeen, who had 12 strikeouts and one walk for the Tigers.

Mandy Warner then scored on a Burlington-Edison throwing error in the eighth to secure the win for Lynden.

Tanna Benson (3-1) struck out seven and walked one in earning the victory in the circle for the Lions.
