Blaine softball stumbles against Anacortes

Blaine's softball team couldn't get its offense going and took at 6-1 loss to Anacortes on Monday, April 14, at Pipeline Fields.

Mikayla Deming scored the only run for the Borderites on a sacrifice fly by Baylee Foster.

Alexis McElwain took the loss for Blaine, but was 1 for 2 with a double on offense.

"We were hitless until the fourth. They had agood pitcher who threw the heat and we didn't adjust," Blaine coach Alisa Burk said in a phone interview. "Lexie threw the first part of the game and was able to fight off a couple tough innings, but in the third they just started hitting us."

Blaine will look for a win at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at Bellingham.
