Offensive outburst leads Bellingham over Meridian

Bellingham's baseball team exploded for eight runs in the third inning and defeated Meridian 12-5 on Monday, April 14, at home. Oscar White was 3 for 4 with a home run and six RBI to lead the Red Raiders' offense.

"(After the home run) our dugout came alive," Bellingham coach David Farrell said in a phone interview. "We were aggressive at the plate and once we got that energy we did well and got 18 hits."

Charlie Carmichael got the win for Bellingham after he overcame a four-run first inning for the Trojans. Meridian's Jake Plagerman was 4 for 4 with a run and an RBI.

"Meridian is a good fastball-hitting team and that helped them put four runs on us," Farrell added.

Bellingham takes on Blaine at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Pipeline Fields. Meridian plays next at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at Joe Martin Stadium against Squalicum.
