Ferndale squeaks out a win behind Bauthues' gem

Brady Bauthues pitched six scoreless innings and was 2 for 2 with a double, and the Ferndale baseball team defeated Sedro-Woolley 1-0 on Monday, April 14, at Janicki Fields. Bauthues had four strikeouts and just one walk.

The Golden Eagles' offense did just enough to get the win, totaling just four hits in the game. Joey Akers hit an RBI single that scored Pete Pennylegion for the only run.

"We had some opportunities early, but we squandered them," Ferndale coach Donny Hennigs said in a phone interview. "Brady was really competitive, pounding the strike zone. The only hit he gave up was an infield single."

Ferndale takes on Sehome at 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, at home.
