Bellingham Jimmy John's donating profits to Oso families on Wednesday

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDApril 14, 2014

Jimmy John's sandwich shops across the greater Puget Sound, including the Bellingham location, will be donating all profits Wednesday, April 16, to families affected by the March 22 Oso landslide.

The offer applies to dine-in, carry-out and delivery orders. The Bellingham store is at 1204 Railroad Ave.

This is just one of many fundraisers that have been happening since the slide, which killed at least 36 people. Seven others remain missing.

Groups helping the affected families are encouraging cash donations and discouraging food, clothing and other items, which may not be what families need and require labor to sort.

One benefit out of the area that might interest some Whatcom County people is a concert by Austin Jenckes, a Western Washington University graduate who appeared on TV's "The Voice." Jenckes grew up in the Duvall area and is doing a show there at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 19. Tickets for the show at the Riverview School District Educational Service Center, 15510 First Ave. NE, are $15 in advance (brownpapertickets.com) or $20 at the door. More information at duvallculture.org.
