Prep for adventures with wilderness class

The Olympia Mountaineers is offering a wilderness skills course designed to prepare outdoor enthusiasts for hiking or backpacking in the forests, mountains and on the trails of the Pacific Northwest.

The course provides information and hands-on experience with more than 20 topics important for safe adventures in the backcountry. No hiking experience is required. The lectures include tips and personal experiences to help participants get started right or to expand their outdoor abilities.

The cost is $50 per person or $90 for a family of four for nonmembers, and $25 per person or $40 per family for Mountaineer members.

The sessions are on Wednesday, Saturday and May 3 at the Friends Meeting House, 3201 Boston Harbor Road, Olympia.
