Golden Eagles play well in loss

Ferndale's boys' soccer team allowed three first-half goals and fell to Burlington-Edison 3-1 in a Northwest Conference match on Saturday, April 12, at Ferndale.

"Overall, the score doesn't reflect how well we played," Ferndale coach Scott Browne said in a phone interview. "We played better than we've played all year long. The guys were actually moving the ball and doing the things we wanted them to."

Hugo Diaz scored first for Burlington-Edison but Josh Seig responded five minutes later for Ferndale.

"Josh played in a couple different spots for us today. He's a good ballhandler," Browne said.

The Tigers scored two goals, including one on a penalty kick, within the next seven minutes, however, to secure the victory.

"We've got a lack of personnel due to injuries," Browne said. "But those 13 guys playing their hearts out did a great job."

Ferndale (0-8-1, NWC 0-4-1) face Blaine on Tuesday, April 15, at Pipeline Fields.
