Sehome's baseball team blew a three-run lead in the bottom of the eighth, taking a 6-5 Northwest Conference loss to Sedro-Woolley on Friday, April 11, at Janicki Fields. The Mariners (5-6, 0-3 NWC) left 15 runners on base in the game and the Cubs (5-1, 3-0) had seven errors.
Jake Albert took the loss for Sehome, but pitched six shutout innings.
"We had so many opportunities and couldn't pull the trigger," Sehome coach Gary Hatch said in a phone interview. "If you can't score the guy on third with less than two outs, its anemic. We had five innings where we left guys on second and third."
Josh Zavisubin was 3 for 5 with two runs and a walk for the Mariners. Kealohi Grondin was 0 for 5, but had three RBI. Grondin had a sacrifice fly and sacrifice hit-and-run.
Sehome will look for a win at 4 p.m. Monday, April 14, at Squalicum.
