Stealy's clutch hit give Storm baseball the win

Squalicum baseball's David Stealy knocked in the tying and winning runs with a seventh-inning, two-out single to right field, and the Storm earned a 6-5 Northwest Conference win over Burlington Edison on Friday, April 11, at Burlington-Edison.

Kyle Little and Josh Holcomb scored on Stealy's game-winning hit. Stealy also got the win on the mound, improving his record to 3-1.

"Kyle can really fly, but it was a close play at the plate," Squalicum coach John Inge said in a phone interview. "Then we still had to get three more outs. They loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning, but we got them to ground out."

Little was 2 for 4 with a run, RBI and a stolen base. Stealy finished 2 for 4 with two RBI and a stolen base. Landon Tripp was 3 for 4 with a run and two stolen bases.

Little, Ernie Yake and Michael Guerrero were solid for the Storm on defense, Inge said.

Squalicum takes on Sehome at 4 p.m. Monday, April 14, at home.
