Meridian falls short against Sedro-Woolley

Meridian's softball team managed a late offensive burst, but came up just short in a 10-6 Northwest Conference loss to Sedro-Woolley on Friday, April 11, at Janicki Fields. The Trojans scored four of their runs in the seventh inning, but couldn't complete the comeback.

Eve Castro took the loss for Meridian, but coach Jordan Chambers said she pitched well.

"Eve threw strikes and kept us in the ballgame," Chambers said in a phone interview. "We played like a team for once. It was a big growing step for us. We played good defense and only walked four."

Keana Waugh and Bailey Haugen were both 2 for 3 with a walk and two RBI for the Trojans (1-7, 0-3 NWC).

Meridian plays Bellingham at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at home.
