Ferndale wins battle with Burlington-Edison

Ferndale's softball team hit back to back homers in the fifth inning to tie it up and eventually went on to defeat Burlington-Edison 9-8 in a Northwest Conference matchup on Friday, April 11, at Burlington-Edison.

Kadence Kane and Abigail Bauthues combined for the home runs to put Ferndale on the right track.

"We came out confident but things just weren't right," Ferndale coach Holly Hilton said in a phone interview. "When we got the two home runs, it fired us back up and we relaxed."

Lauren Maley was credited with the win, her eighth of the season. She struck out six in seven innings, walking only one.
