Lyncs offensive outburst overwhelms Bellingham


Lynden Christian's softball team scored 10 runs in the first inning, setting the tone for its 17-2 Northwest Conference win over Bellingham in four innings Friday, April 11, at Bellingham.

"The last couple games we have not scored first and that was our big focus today," Lynden Christian coach Mitch Moorlag said in a phone interview. "We wanted to put pressure on the other team."

Shelby Brown was 2 for 3 with a two-run home run and a three-run home run for the Lyncs (5-3, 1-2 NWC). Lexi Vander Griend was a flawless 4 for 4 with four RBI and four runs scored.

Eliza Rossman led the Red Raiders (3-5, 0-3), going 1 for 2 with two RBI.

LC's winning pitcher, Kasey Luna threw all four innings, striking out four.

Lynden Christian takes on Mount Baker at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Bender Fields. Bellingham plays next at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Meridian.
