WWU splits with GNAC leaders Western Oregon

Western Washington University split a doubleheader with conference-leading Western Oregon University, winning 7-5 and losing 5-4, in Great Northwest Athletic Conference softball action Friday, April 11, at Viking Field on the WWU campus.

The Vikings are now 23-11 overall and 10-6 in GNAC action. WOU, which clinched a berth in the GNAC Tournament, is 26-16 overall and 14-2 in conference play.

In the opener, WOU scored three times in the top of the first inning, but the Vikings answered with five runs in the bottom of that frame.

Alexie Levin singled in WWU's first run and Emma Blauser and Meghan Carrillo each had two-out, two-run singles for the Vikings.

In the second game, the Vikings committed five errors, giving up unearned runs in the first and sixth innings.

Autumn Isaacson, who finished the day 5-for-8, got two hits in the second game for WWU.

WWU entertains Northwest Nazarene in a pair of GNAC doubleheaders on April 18-19.
