Limping Lions fall to Anacortes

Lynden's boys' soccer team lost to Anacortes 3-0 on Thursday, April 10, at Lynden. Four Lions were out due to injuries.

"We played well. They scored two really nice goals so I pushed more people up and they got a third on a corner kick, but we had some chances," Lynden coach Drew Smiley said in a phone interview.

With some key players out, Smiley utilized his young subs. Rathnasabapathy Mariappan stepped up in the attacking third and Marcus Landeros played well filling in on the backline.

"Mariappan created a lot of chances," Smiley said. "Marcus really shut his guy down even after we had to move another center back to midfield."

Lynden's next game is at Nooksack Valley at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at Nooksack Elementary.
