Willis scores three in Sehome win

Sam Willis scored three goals and the Sehome boys' soccer team rolled to a 6-0 victory over Ferndale on Thursday, April 10, at Ferndale High School.

Willis started his scoring in the 16th minute and then added another in the 25th minute. He completed the hat trick in the 78th minute on a penalty kick. Willis also had an assist in the game.

"He had a really good game. He definitely stood out," Sehome coach John Sylvester said in a phone interview. "We used all our players. It was a real team effort. We were hungry to prove ourselves after the loss to Squalicum."

The scoring kicked off quickly for Sehome in the second minute when Charlie Lahud scored and the defense was just as solid keeping the shutout.

"We made it a goal to get a shutout," Sylvester said. "Overall we've been getting stronger defensively."

Sehome faces Mount Baker on Tuesday, April 15, at Northwest Soccer Park. Ferndale plays Blaine at Pipeline Fields on the same day.
