Meridian softball improves in loss

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDApril 10, 2014

Meridian's softball team couldn't get its offense started and took an 8-0 loss to Coupeville on Thursday, April 10, at home.

Keana Waugh was 2 for 3 for the Pioneers. Kendra Holmes had the other Nooksack Valley hit, going 1 for 3.

"We're just young and going through some growing pains," Meridian coach Jordan Chambers said in a phone interview. "Keana is on fire so far, I think she has a hit in every game."

Chambers also noted that Eve Castro has showed some improvement in the pitching circle. Castro held Coupeville scoreless through each of the three innings she pitched.

Meridian's next game is at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, at home against Bellingham.
