WWU men's golf ties for seventh at invitational

Western Washington University's Craig Crawford finished in a four-way tie for eighth place in medalist play, just four shots out of the lead, and the Vikings tied for seventh in the team standings at the Western New Mexico University Men's Golf Invitational Tournament which ended Tuesday, April 8, in Goodyear, Ariz.

Crawford shot a final-round 74 for a 54-hole total of 212. His second-round 6-under par 66 on Monday tied for the tourney's best round.

WWU shot 298 as a team for an 876 total. Host WNMU won by eight strokes at 853 (281), with Cal State Stanislaus second at 861 (293) and Cal State Monterey Bay third at 863 (275) in the 20-team field.

The Vikings' Mark Strickland tied for 19th at 217 (73). Kyle Schrader (73) and Brennan Emory (78) each tied for 57th at 224 and Chris Hatch tied for 78th at 231 (80).
