Injuries too much for Lions

Lynden's boys' soccer team suffered some key injuries during the game and fell to Burlington-Edison 5-2 on Tuesday, April 8, at Burlington-Edison.

The Lions' Alex Guenther scored five minutes into the game to take the early lead but the Tigers tied it up five minutes later. Another five minutes passed until Lynden went up 2-1 off a Miguel Gonzalez goal.

The lead wouldn't hold though, as three key players got injured for the Lions and the Tigers scored four unanswered goals.

"Three guys come off with knocks, that was really big," Lynden coach Drew Smiley said in a phone interview. "That's when things went sideways."

Lynden plays Anacortes on Thursday, April 10, at Bender Fields.
