Mount Baker blanks LC

Mount Baker's Alex Tyska scored in the second minute and the Mountaineers' boys' soccer team defeated Lynden Christian 2-0 on Tuesday, April 8, at Mount Baker. Manuel Mendez assisted on the goal.

Mountaineers' goalkeeper Bryce Logan made eight saves and was the player of the game, Baker coach Jason Jorgensen said in a phone interview.

"Bryce commanded the back line," Jorgensen added. "He was a great presence today. Our center backs (Zane Smith and Carlos Torrero) did a good job keeping everyone organized."

Johnny Mata added the insurance goal in the 32nd minute for Mount Baker.

Mount Baker takes on Nooksack Valley at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at Nooksack Elementary. Lynden Christian hosts Burlington-Edison at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at Bender Fields.
