Hannah Rothwell stood out in the pitching circle and at the plate to help the Lynden softball team earn a 10-0 Northwest Conference win over Bellingham on Tuesday, April 8, in Lynden.
The win gave the Lions (5-2, 2-0 NWC) their third straight victory. Bellingham (3-4, 0-2 NWC) suffered its first back-to-back loss this season.
Rothwell gave up only three hits and struck out six. At the plate, the Lynden junior was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Lions Trisha Snydar, Tanna Benson and Teylor Eshuis each recorded two hits. Lynden scored five its runs in the third and five in the fourth.
"We did a really good job of hitting when runners were in scoring position," Lions coach Steve Petersen said.
The Red Raiders finished with three hits and four errors but received high praise from Petersen.
"Bellingham played really well," he said. "I'm glad we played them now. They are going to get some teams when it's all said and done."
Lynden hosts Burlington-Edison next at 4 p.m. Monday, April 14, while Bellingham hosts Lynden Christian at 4 p.m. Friday, April 11.
