Emily Brown's comeback win in the No. 4 singles' match was Lynden's only victory as the girls' tennis team lost to Sedro-Woolley 6-1 on Monday, April 7, at Lynden YMCA.
Brown dropped the first set to the Cubs' Beth Floyd 2-6, but came back strong to take the final two sets 6-4, 6-4.
"It's the first day after spring break, so it was not a very pretty match for either team," Lynden coach Trey Ballard said in a phone interview. "We looked rusty, but Emily cleaned up that rust."
The Lions' Katherine Haveman jumped out to an early lead over Sedro-Woolley's Emily Peterson, but couldn't hold on and took the loss 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. The match was Havemen's first of the year, and she impressed Ballard with her quick start.
Lynden's next match is at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, at Burlington-Edison.
