Bellingham, Squalicum tie for top spot as Paul grabs medalist

Bellingham's Jenn Paul shot a 38 and earned the medalist honor in a Northwest Conference girls' golf meet on Monday, April 7, at North Bellingham Golf Course.

Bellingham and Squalicum tied for first with 253 points. Mount Baker was third with 289, Anacortes took fourth with 318 and Meridian was fifth with 369.

"As coaches we were all a little taken aback, we thought the scores would be a bit lower (with the nicer weather)," Meridian coach Steve Lawrence said in a phone interview. "Jenn Paul had another great round, she's so consistent every single match."

Maddi Atwood-Knudson led Squalicum with a 45, and Emma Brown shot a 49 to lead Mount Baker. Rebecca Cortez's 58 led Anacortes.

Anna Ratzlaff led Meridian with a 61. She was the only Trojan to not shoot a 77.
