Ferndale falls just short against Burlington-Edison

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDApril 7, 2014

Despite managing just two hits, Ferndale's baseball team lost a one-run game to Burlington-Edison, 6-5 on Monday, April 7, at Ferndale.

Kyler Brudwick had two RBI, one of which came when he was hit in the head by a wild pitch with the bases loaded. Ferndale coach Donny Hennigs expects Brudwick to be back in form after he takes a few days off.

Joey Akers was 1 for 3 with an RBI and a stolen base for the Golden Eagles. Brady Bauthues was 1 for 3 with a run and an RBI. He also took the loss on the mound for Ferndale.

"We didn't do a lot defensively and gave them too many baserunners," Hennigs said in a phone interview. "Every time Brady goes out he'll give you everything he's got and he did that today. We'll have a chance to win every time he pitches. His record (0-3) is not at all indicative of the way he pitches."

Ferndale hosts Mount baker at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, at home in a make-up game from last week.
