WWU's Carrillo named softball co-player of the week


Western Washington University outfielder Meghan Carrillo has been named the Red Lion/Great Northwest Athletic Conference Softball co-Player of the Week for March 31-April 6 and was picked to the Cal State Stanislaus Tournament of Champions all-tournament team.

Carrillo, a senior from Prunedale, Calif., led the Vikings to a 5-1 record and the Gold Bracket semifinals at the 13th Annual TOC. She was 6 for 16 with a team-high six runs batted in.

Carrillo shared the honor with Central Washington catcher Austin Wilkerson.

Carrillo has hit .479 (23 for 48) in her hast 16 games, driving in 12 runs and scoring seven. She leads the GNAC in on-base percentage at .494 and ranks second in batting at .438.
