O'Brien, Lemley, Wickard, Constance win on Deming Speedway's opening night

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDApril 6, 2014

Rain couldn't stop Deming Speedway from holding its opening night of racing Friday, April 4, as fans watched drivers Dustin O'Brien, Brock Lemley, Reese Wickard and Haley Constance earn main event wins in their respective classes. O'Brien took advantage of Lemely's mechanical problems on Lap 20 and earned the win in the 600 open division. But Lemely found his way to the top of the podium in the 1,200 division after turning in a dominant performance in which he led all 25 laps of the race. In the 600 restricted division, Wickard held off a hard-charging JJ Thomas to earn the feature win. Wickard maintained a comfortable lead until Thomas closed the gap late. Thomas' second-place finish was his career best. Constance held off a strong run by Peyton Hagen in the Kasey Kahne Junior Sprint division for her first win of the 2014 season.
