WWU to test alert system April 10

BELLINGHAM - Western Washington University will test its Western Alert emergency notification system at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, April 10.

The test will include sounding the Big Ole steam whistle as an outdoor alert, testing voice messages over the campus fire alarm system, sending text messages to those who have registered for them, and emailing students and staff.

The message also will be posted on the university's web page, Facebook page, Twitter feed and its emergency communication page, emergency.wwu.edu.

School officials recommend that students and staff use the drill to review personal emergency plans.
