Blazers lose chance to advance to national title

The Bellingham Blazers were overpowered by the Northern Cyclones and took a 12-0 loss in the USA Hockey Tier III Junior Hockey National Championships in Simsbury, Conn.

The Cyclones hail from New Hampshire and were the Eastern Hockey League champions this season. They outshot the Blazers 44-12 and scored on three of four power plays.

The loss eliminates the Blazers from advancing in the tournament, but they have one more game in the round robin against the Springfield Pics, the US Priemier Hockey League champions from West Springfield, Mass. The Blazers and Pics meet at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 5, in Simsbury, Conn.
