ATLANTA — Sarah Palin is offering a forceful defense of the only Republican woman in the fight for Georgia’s open Senate seat, hitting back against a rival’s apparent dismissal of Karen Handel’s high school education.
David Perdue is the former Dollar General CEO who talked about the economy and the federal deficit at a January meeting captured on video. He was taped saying, quote, “there’s a high school graduate in this race, OK? I’m sorry but these issues are so much broader, so complex.”
Palin said at a Thursday event for Handel that Perdue’s comments were disappointing, adding, quote, “for those who would criticize and mock that, it really makes me question their judgment.”
Handel is a former secretary of state. She’s spoken in previous races about her struggles as a teen.
