Ferndale bats come alive in win over Storm

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDApril 1, 2014

The Ferndale softball team had little trouble on the offensive end, defeating Squalicum 17-0 on Tuesday, April 1, at Ferndale High School in a non-conference matchup.

Lauren Maley picked up her fifth win of the season after holding the Storm scoreless while also driving in two RBI at the plate. Dana Ebe added a home run and two RBI, as well, and Amanda Baker's three-hit, three-RBI day punctuated the strong win for the Golden Eagles.

"We just were patient at the plate, and found a way to get the ball in play," Ferndale coach Holly Hilton said in a phone interview. "Everybody on the team got some playing time, and that's important."

Jessica Nellis and Beth Carter both went 1-1 for the Storm at the plate.

Ferndale next faces Mount Baker on Monday, April 7, with Squalicum next in action on Tuesday, April 8, against Burlington-Edison. Both are Northwest Conference matchups.
