Ferndale fails to capitalize on perfect game

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMarch 31, 2014

Ferndale's baseball team couldn't capitalize on a perfect game from Kyle Baker and fell 1-0 to Burlington-Edison on Monday, March 31, at Burlington-Edison.

Baker was perfect through 6 2/3 before an error put a Tigers' runner on base in the bottom of the seventh. He stole second and the throw to get him out trying to steal third sailed into left field, giving Burlington-Edison a win with no hits.

"He had something special and we just couldn't muster anything offensively," Ferndale coach Donny Hennigs said in a phone interview.

Baker finished with no hits, no walks and two strikeouts. Kyler Brudwick got the lone hit for the Golden Eagles.

Ferndale will look to bounce back against Squalicum on Wednesday, April 2, at Ferndale.
