Blazers goalie to play for St. Olaf College

Robert MacDonald, goalie for the North Pacific Hockey League champion Bellingham Blazers, has committed to play next season for St. Olaf College of Northfield, Minn.

MacDonald, 19, had a record of 14-3 with two shutouts and a .912 save percentage for the Blazers in the 2013-14 regular season.

He was 5-2 in two playoff series for the Blazers, who won their second consecutive NPHL title in just their second year of competition, both under the leadership of Coach Mark Collins.

MacDonald and the Blazers next play April 3-7 in the USA Hockey Junior Tier III National Tournament in Simsbury, Conn.

The St. Olaf Oles are a perennial playoff contender in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
