Sehome's boys' soccer team lost its first game of the season, a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Anacortes in a Northwest Conference match on Friday, March 28, at Northwest Soccer Park.
"For some reason, we had a lack of focus," Sehome coach John Sylvester said in a phone interview. "We just weren't able to make things click today and their team took advantage."
Anacortes got on the board in the 50th minute when Ryan Burton scored. They added another late goal from Milan Kassa.
"Anacortes worked together as a unit well," Sylvester said. "Nothing added up right for us today. When it came to lucky bounces, they got them and we didn't. But I think we got outworked today."
Sehome (3-1-3, 1-1-1 NWC) hopes to get back on track after spring break.
"I think we need to work on linking up offensively," Sylvester said. "Honestly, it was more of an attitude thing today. The kids weren't quite all there. We need to get that sorted out and come back after the break focused and ready to go."
Sehome plays Squalicum on Tuesday, April 8, at Civic Stadium.
