Big third inning gives Sehome win

THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMarch 28, 2014

A four-run third gave the Sehome baseball team the boost it needed to defeat Bellingham 5-3 on Friday, March 28, at Bellingham. The Mariners' Josh Zavisubin got the win from the mound, allowing ten hits and striking out four.

"Zavisubin pumped the zone and was able to pick off a couple guys," Bellingham coach David Farrell said in a phone interview. "He got himself out of a couple innings."

Bellingham's Oscar White was 2 for 3 with a sixth-inning home run.

"Oscar is starting to get in a groove of hitting the ball to the opposite field gap," Farrell said. "It was a nice stroke."

The Mariners' Davis Hampton was 1 for 4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Jake Albert was also 3 for 4.

Bellingham plays next at 4 p.m. Monday, March 31, at Squalicum. Sehome's next game is at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, at Burlington-Edison.
