Concerned about Alabama plan

COURTESY TO THE BELLINGHAM HERALDMarch 28, 2014

To all residents living just north or south of Alabama Street between James Street and Woburn, are you aware of the proposal by the transportation department for the upcoming improvements for Alabama? It is this, to put in a curb median down the middle of Alabama for the entire length of this section. No left turns allowed either direction except for the lights at New Orleans, Pacific and a new light at St. Paul. There also will be no left turns allowed to get on Alabama except at these lights. For all of you who live on all those dead end streets north of Alabama, you might consider this a problem. There could be better options like a middle turn lane with adjacent lanes on either side. Perhaps if you feel as I do, email the city council soon, or attend the April 7 council meeting on this matter and express your dissatisfaction with this plan.
